Ladies Auxilliary

What They Do

Charter Date --- February 1st 1935 - January 1 2010

Charter members were M.Allen, Doris Berry, M.Catterall, J.Drew, Alice French, E.Jenower, R.Gowland, C.Henderson, C.Martin, Carrie Mayne, E.Morley, and J Nickerson I.Pitchford, R.Sutherland and Miss N Ravenhill.

Meetings were held at the home of Carrie Mayne until the Branch found a suitable home. Unfortunately, due to a fire, many of the files were destroyed. In 1974 we moved into our new building. During the years the Ladies prepared lunches for visiting Bus tours, while the Branch provided a mini meat draw and entertainment. On the last Saturday of each month the Ladies had a bake table during the meat draw. When the Branch ended the summer barbecues the Ladies picked up with Friday Night Dinners. Bi Monthly Hospital visits; Strawberry Teas, Bazaars and Flea Markets were regular functions of the Ladies Auxiliary.

Over the years depending on funds available, the Ladies Auxilliary made donations to our Branch as well as supporting, by donation, various charitable organizations.

It was with regret that our Ladies Auxilliary surrendered its charter as of January 1st 2010. Their committment and support to the Legion and community will be sorely missed.
